I should have a balanced diet

A man weighs 60 N at earth's surface. At what height above the earth's surface his weight becomes 30N? (radius of earth = 6400 km, mass of earth = 6 × 1 0 24 6 \times 10^{24} )

g = g / ( 1 + h / R ) 2 g*=g/(1+h/R)^2 will be equal to g / 2 g/2 The change in weight is equal to half of it's weight in Earth, therefore 1 + h / R = 2 1+h/R=\sqrt{2} or h / R = 0.41 h/R=0.41 implies h = 0.41 R = 0.41 X 6400 = 2624 k m h=0.41R=0.41X6400=2624km since R=6400km=radius of Earth
