Identify multiple substances

Chemistry Level 2

A colorless gas A A with its own characteristic (distinguishable) smell, when burnt in oxygen gas, creates another colorless and odorless gas B B . B B can react with lithium (solid) at room temperature, creating a solid C C . Dissolving C C into water creates A A .

A A reacts with a strong acid D D creating a salt E E . The salt solution E E won't create any precipitates when reacts with B a C l 2 BaCl_2 and A g N O 3 AgNO_3 . Heating E E in a sealed container, then cooling the container creates a gas F F and a liquid G G .

Identify A , B , C , D , E , F A,B,C,D,E,F and G G .

These are substances that may help you with the question:

  • 1) N H 3 NH_3

  • 2) H 3 P H_3P

  • 3) N 2 N_2

  • 4) H 2 S O 4 H_2SO_4

  • 5) L i 3 N Li_3N

  • 6) N 2 O N_2O

  • 7) H N O 3 HNO_3

  • 8) H 2 O H_2O

  • 9) N H 4 N O 3 NH_4NO_3

  • 10) H C l HCl

There are 3 substances that are irrevelant to the problem.

Match A,B,C,D,E,F, G with the corresponding answer.

Then type in order: A, B, C, D, E, F and G.

For example, if you match: A1, B2, C3, D4, E5, F6, G7 then type 1234567.

The answer is 1357968.

NH3 is a pungent smelling and colorless gas which at high temp. reacts with O2 to form N2 (a colorless and odourless gas) and H2O.

N2 reacts with Li at room temperature to form Li3N.

Hydrolysis of Li3N results a basic solution comprising of LiOH and NH3.

When NH3 reacts with H2SO4, it forms (NH4)2SO4 which precipitates BaCl2 (white ppt. of BaSO4 as product) when is added in the solution.

The reaction of NH3 with conc. HCl causes an instant reaction (probably due to strong acidic character of HCl) due to which NH4Cl is formed.

NH4Cl enhances a white precipitate of AgCl when AgNO3 is added to the solution.

Reaction with NH3 and HNO3 (nitric acid) produces NH4NO3.

NH4NO3 on heating produces N2O and H2O.

So final encryption of variables are:

A=NH3 ; B=N2 ; C= Li3N ; D= HNO3 ; E= NH4NO3 ; F= N2O ; G= H2O;

Answer is: 1357968
