IIT JEE 1982 Maths - 'Adapted' - Subjective to Multi-Correct Q5

Geometry Level 3

A is a point on the parabola y 2 = 4 a x y^2=4ax . The Normal at A cuts the parabola again at point B. If AB subtends a right angle at the vertex of the parabola, then which of the following is/are false regarding the slope of AB?

  • (A) The sum of the possible values of slope is 0.
  • (B) There are four possible values of the slope.
  • (C) The values of the slope are consecutive terms of Arithmetic Progression.
  • (D) There exist values of slope such that their difference is 2 2 2\sqrt2

Assumption Terms can be said to be in Arithmetic Progression only if there are more than 2 terms. Eg. 2 and 4 are not in A. P.; 2, 4, 6 are in A. P.

Enter your answer as a 4 digit string of 1s and 9s - 1 for correct option, 9 for wrong. Eg. 1199 indicates A and B are correct, C and D are incorrect. None, one or all may also be correct.
