What is the area of shaded portion of figure, given that the vertex of the unshaded triangle is the mid point of the height of the larger triangle?

Note: The length marked 6cm is the altitude from the large triangle's vertex to the side labeled 10cm.

area of shaded = area of the big triangle - area of the small triangle =(0.5)(10)(6) - (0.5)(10)(3) = 15

1/2 * 6/2 * 10=15

Its simply the height is 3cm and the base is 10cm.Thus the area is 15 cm.
