6 y + 5 > 7 -6y+5>-7

or, 6 y > 12 -6y>-12

or, y < 2 y<2 .................[ dividing both sides by -6 \text{dividing both sides by -6} ]

6 y + 5 > 7 -6y + 5 > -7

Subtract 5 from both sides:

6 y + 5 5 > 7 5 ⇒ -6y + 5 - 5 > -7 - 5

6 y > 12 ⇒ -6y > -12

Divide both sides by -6:

6 y 6 < 12 6 ⇒ \dfrac{-6y}{-6} < \dfrac{-12}{-6}

y < 2 ⇒ y < 2
