Look down the long diagonal of the octahedron--you see a square. Symmetry makes this a necessary fact.

Which angle is the question referring to? I somehow got 70.5288

Poon, an octahedron can be seen to be formed by three squares intersecting each other at six points. Get it now? On a sphere, three great circles intersecting each other at right angles. Each great circle passes through four such points. Hence squares, hence right angle corners.
