Interesting Amplification

For the AC circuit shown below, determine the sum of the magnitudes of V 1 V_1 and V 2 V_2 .

Note that the source voltage magnitudes on both sides are the same. What is going on here?

Note: This problem is just an elementary application of Ohm's Law for AC circuits

The answer is 23.546.

1 solution

Solving the circuit we get V 1 = 10.98311 + 3.08775 j V_1=10.98311+3.08775j and V 2 = 11.91225 + 2.32285 j V_2=11.91225+2.32285j . Therefore V 1 + V 2 = 11.40899 + 12.1366 = 23.5456 |V_1|+|V_2|=11.40899+12.1366=23.5456
