Its because of both inertia & gravity . Gravity bcoz its d gravitational force that pulls things down towards the earth & Inertia bcoz if we once start shaking the tree all the branches comes into motion , hence due to inertia of rest the fruit is separated from the tree & the gravitational force pulls it down .
