Ice also sublimes. This can be seen, for example, when food is frozen in an airtight plastic bag for a long time. The ice crystals that appear in the bag are in fact water that has sublimed out of food and deposited on the surface of the bag .It is because of this reason that food that remains frozen for too long time becomes dried out ,although it can be avoided to some extent by a process called deep freezing, that is freezing food to lower temperatures. The colder temperature lowers the rate of sublimation and preserves the food longer.
