By definition and convention, 2 is the smallest prime number, so it is not prime.
If a number is composite, then it is a product of prime factors p 1 k 1 p 2 k 2 ⋯ p n k n however any prime p you may pick is positive and larger than 1 so any product will be larger than 1 . So 1 is not composite.
