The agent is always Pulling up the object, from the center of the earth, to the infinity. And earth's gravity is always acting *against agent's force. Which means you have to work to take it to the infinity. The gravity will always be resisting you.
So, the work done must be Positive (+ve) , which represets that you worked hard!
