Consider a cartesian coordinate system. A square plate 0.001 m. thick having sides of 1 meter is kept in the x-y plane. It is subjected to a tensile stress of 5kg per meter square in the x direction and compressive stress of -5 kg per meter square in the y direction. Find the change in volume of the plate if the elastic constant is 20,000 N/meter square.
