it is not asking for the number that x is equal to it is asking how many values could x have. That answer is two, if x was any number you would have to have its positive and negative value as solutions that fit the conditions.

Instead of x place 1,then the answer is 6+1=7 there fore problem is solved

If you substitute x=1 you get 1^6+1=2 which is not equal to 7
