Island's Women (Part 2)

Logic Level 1

After your success in finding the truth teller in part one of Island's Women, you and your companion are stopped by two people and two doors. Behind one door is a stone brick wall, and behind the other is the path to your home. However, you can't tell what's behind either of the doors. However, you have gathered a clue that you can use to solve the question in bold. Your clue is that one of the people next to the doors will lie, and the other will tell the truth. Unfortunately, you don't know who will tell the truth and who will lie. How many questions do you need to ask to know behind which door is the path leading home?

  • Ask one of these questions to any person: If I asked you what the other guy would say is the right door, what would you say? or If I asked you what the other guy would say is the wrong door, what would you say?
  • If you asked the first question, then if you're asking the liar, he'll tell you the wrong door in his lie. If you asked the truth teller, he'd tell what the liar would say, which would be the wrong door. Thus, you just have to pick the door opposite to the one the person told.
  • If you asked the second question, then if you're asking the liar, he'll tell you the right door in his lie. If you asked the truth teller, he'd tell what the liar would say, which would be the right door. Thus, you just have to pick the door the person told.
