Is f ( x ) f(x) the same as g ( x ) g(x) ?

f ( x ) = x 2 x f(x) = \dfrac{x^2}{x}

g ( x ) = x g(x) = x

f(x) not is the same as g(x) since f(0) = 0/0 and it doesn't exist, g(0)=0. Thus the domain of f is different of domain g. Then f doesn't the same function as g. The domain of f is Real out zero, the domain of g is all Real number.

The domain should be specified. If the domain was the positive or negative reals, these functions are equal.
