Note that f y ( x ) = 1 − x f^y(x)=1-x when y is odd and f y ( x ) = x f^y(x)=x when y is even

so whoever wrote this either assigned the wrong function, or denoted the wrong value of x.

The answer should be 1-5 which is -4... not 4
