The above figure shows a decimal clock, which is from the period of French revolution, when the French tried to popularize decimal time . They divided one day into ten decimal hours. Each decimal hour is divided into 100 decimal minutes, and each decimal minute is further divided into 100 decimal seconds.
The above clock reads as 08:26 in decimal time. What time is it when converted to 24-hour clock ?

Let's calculate what fraction of the day has passed when it is 08:26 in decimal time. A day has 1 0 × 1 0 0 = 1 0 0 0 decimal minutes. 8 × 1 0 + 2 6 = 8 2 6 decimal minutes have passed. This means that 1 0 0 0 8 2 6 of the day has passed.
This means that the current time is 1 0 0 0 8 2 6 × 2 4 hours past midnight.
= 1 0 0 0 1 9 8 2 4 hours past midnight
= 1 9 + 1 0 0 0 8 2 4 hours past midnight
