If the train would be in uniform motion the coin should fall in his hand. But the coin falls behind him, this means this time, it covers more distance in respect of time.

Out of the given options.. this is the correct answer.. But another possibility is that the train is retarding and he is sitting facing the direction opposite tothat of the train's motion!

But in which direction is the man standing is not given to us, so the train can be accelerating or deaccelerating.
