It's time management!

Logic Level 3

There are four men trying to pass a bridge in dark. They have only one flashlight which is necessary to pass the bridge. Only maximum of two can pass the bridge at one time .

A takes 1 minute, B takes 2 minutes, C takes 7 minutes, and D takes 10 minutes to cross the bridge respectively.

When two men are passing the bridge the one taking more time gives total time for both (if A and B pass the bridge together time taken is 2 min). Find the minimum time in which all of them will pass the bridge.

The answer is 17.

first of all A and B will pass the bridge which will take 2 min then A will go back to give flash light to C and D taking 1 min and then C and D will pass the bridge taking 10 min.Now B will go to A with flashlight taking 2 min and then A and B will again cross the bridge taking 2 min. Thus total time taken is 17 min.

First A and B cross the bridge , taking 2 minutes.

Next A gives the flash light to B and B returns, taking 2 minutes.

Next C and D cross the bridge , taking 10 minutes.

Next A returns , taking 1 minute.

Next A and B cross the bridge in 2 minutes.

Therefore the minimum time in which all can cross the bridge is 17 minutes.
