One day while on a trek .. John forgot his way back and was lost .. ( poor guy .. )
He ran out of water .. ( omg ! )
When searching for water , he came across a very deep well... With a water pump attached to it. Near an abandoned camp ( hallelujah ! ).
Unfortunatly the pump required him to start the generator which requires gasoline ..
He searched everywhere but didn't find any ( Dangbabbit !).
He found out that the pump has a little rubber tube attached to it ...
He detached the tube whose one end went in the well..
He estimated the water level in the well to be 20 meters below ground ..
How will poor john drink water ?? And .. Can he ?? ;) Hint :- use physics !!!

John estimated that the depth at which water is present is 20 meters... There fore .. He cannot use the tube like a straw to suck out the water..
Reason : water will keep rising up in the straw only till the pressure at the lowermost point of the straw becomes equal to the atmospheric pressure at that point.
So water will rise only up to 10 meters ..
So .. After that if he is somehow able to close one end of the tube .. The pressure inside the tube will still he less than atmospheric pressure and the water column will remain in the tube .
Now all he has to do is .. Remove the tube from the well and water will come out along with the tube ..
