The heart and the major blood vessels that attach to it are enclosed within a double layered Serous membrane called the Pericardium. The outer sac is called the Parietal pericardium or Pericardial sac. and, the inner sac is called the Visceral pericardium or epicardium.

gud question megh choksi but i m still on search that why are they namesd so...if i will got the solution,then u will be the first person whom i described....maybe these names are named so because of the scientist who discovered the cardiovascular system...as in many inventions,they might named after the name of the inventor for the respect of that scientist.

I didn't know about the names but i knew that the outer layer is always called parietal and the inner one visceral. :D
