Laws Of Conservation Of Momentum

Level 1

If there is a bullet which has a mass 10 g and its initial velocity is 300m/s. The mass of wood is 24g and its initial velocity is 0m/s. The bullet is got into the wood and sticked into the wood. So what is the velocity of the wood which has a bullet inside of its body ?

120m/s 125m/s 83.3m/s 88.2m/s

mass of bullet x initial velocity of bullet = mass of bullet + wood x final velocity of wood 0.01 x 300 = (0.01 + 0.024)V V = 88.23m/s

Oops, I thought 0.024+0.01=0.025. What a careless mistake I have done!
