Let the number of pages be x. So, Alice had read 2x / 3 pages. No. of pages left = x / 3. So, the number of pages he read = 90 + x / 3. Hence, the equation stands: 2x / 3 = 90 + x / 3. or, x / 3 = 90. hence x = 270 pages.
