151.8984/1.02=148.92 148.92/1.02= 145.999

His height increases 2% every year, that means, last year his height was 98% (100-2) of this year. Since we gotta go 2 years back, it will be

98% of 98% of 151.8984

=145.883

This is wrong. His height increases 2 2 % every year, which means his height is 102 102 % of last year. Hence, last year his height was 1 / 1.02 98.039 1/1.02\approx 98.039 %, not 98 98 %. Your answer was correct because of luck.
