The trick in this question is that the root is on (6+√a) whole.

The value of 2 + √(2) = √4 + √2. Let x = √4 + √2 => x^2 = 6 + 2√8 = 6 + √32 => x=√(6+√32). So, √a = √32. Therefore, a = 32.
