When there are 2 or more contradictory statements or any kind of accusations, then there must be at least 2 different kind of people who gave those statements, OR at most one truth between them.

We can see that the above happened between the Knaves of Hearts & Spades, so that means that none other could have told the truth by the fact of "One Knave is telling the truth". By the Knave of Clubs' false statement, we know about the Knave of Spades' deception and in turn, the Knave of Hearts' honesty.

D stole H's sandwich but S did not steal D's orange juice.
