How many licks does it take take to get the the tootsie center of a tootsie pop?
Note: The tootsie center has a radius of 1 mm and the whole lollipop has a radius of 3 mm. Each licks takes away of a millimeter of the entire outside layer. Every layer is a perfect sphere.

First we have to figure out the thickness of the non tootsie pop part. If the whole is 3 mm and the tootsie part is 1 mm, then we can subtract 1 mm from 3 mm, or 2 mm. (The reason we do not need to use any formulas for area of volume is because we lick the whole area of the lollipop, not just part of it. It is unrealistic, but it works for the problem.)
Then we have to divide the thickness by the amount licked away each lick, or 2 0 1 . We have our final answer 40 licks.
