i 2 = 1 i^2=-1 , per the definition of i i . Written in standard form, i 2 = 1 + 0 i i^2=-1+0i . The complex conjugate would be 1 0 i -1-0i , which is also equal to 1 -1 . The correct answer choice is i 2 i^{-2} , because it is the only answer choice that is equal to 1 -1 .
