Let liquid A and B are 7x and 5x litre respectively. Between the drawn off 9 litre A=7x9/12=21/4 litre and B=5x9/12=15/4 litre. But 9 litre of B added the new solution. So, in the new mixture A=7x-21/4 and B=5x-15/4+9=(20x+21)/4. now,(7x-21/4)/ (20x+21)/4=7/9. solving the equation, x=3. so, initially A=7x3=21 litre.
