Evaluate without using calculator:

$\log_6(216)+[\log(42)-\log(6)]/\log(49)$

Give your answer in decimals.

Here is the solution: $\log_6(216)+[\log(42)-\log(6)]/\log(49)$ $= \log_6(6^3)+[\log(42/6)]/\log(7^2)$ $= 3+\log(7)/2\log(7) = 3+1/2 = 7/2$
