6 cups are placed in a line. The three to the right are filled with water. You are allowed to move cups, but not in between cups. What is the least amount of moves needed so that you have a pattern of empty, filled, empty, filled, empty, and filled?

6 2 There is no way 3 1 5 4

This is a problem from the Primes STEP Test in MIT.

The 1st, 2nd, 3rd must be empty, filled, empty. The 4th, 5th and 6th must be filled, empty, filled. So the 5th one must be dumped into the 2nd one.

HAHA LOL! Most would think of shifting the cups.

But pouring water from one cup to another? You had me trolled! Good problem!
