A, B, C, D and E are five trains which run between the following regions :

  • 1. Mumbai and Pune
  • 2. Calcutta and Mumbai
  • 3. Pune and Goa
  • 4. Goa and Mumbai
  • 5. Pune and Calcutta

Train A and D don't go to Mumbai. Train B and C don't go to Calcutta. C and D don't go to Goa.

Read the following questions :

  • (b) Which station does Train A and E have in common?

Since the questions are multiple choice, we don't need to find all the correct answers.

First, let's skip to question c. The answer clearly cannot be (i), as the question states that C does not go to Calcutta or Goa. So, by elimination, the answer to question c is (ii). Now we are left with two answer choices - 1 and 4. Choice 4 has (ii) as the answer for question b. But, train A cannot go to Mumbai! So answer choice 4 is eliminated. This leaves us with Choice 1 as the answer.
