Lott Naryk

We have a Caesar Cipher of shift magnitude x x . We start with Lott Naryk and get Finn Hulse! Cool!

Let y = 2014 x (mod 26) y = 2014x\text{ (mod 26)} .

Find x + y x+y .

The answer is 26.

L=12

F=6=32

x=32-12=20

y=2014*20 (mod 26)

y=40280 mod 26

y=6

x+y=26

Thanks... I love this cipher... Waiting for some more problems on this.

A simple shift cipher just moves each letter a certain number of spaces. For example, a shift magnitude of 1 would make A into B.

We start with L and get F. Thus, x=20 because we shifted 20 spaces from L to get to F.

y = 2014x (mod 26)

y = 2014(20)(mod 26)

y = 40280(mod 26)

y = 6

x + y

20 + 6

26
