The magnetic field around a straight current carrying wire can be derived from the Biot-Savart law , and is given by B = μ 0 I 2 π r B = \dfrac{\mu _{0} I }{2 \pi r} .

The magnetic field is proportional to the magnitude of current in the wire. If the current in the wire is doubled, then the magnetic field also doubles.
