This is too simple to need a long explanation if you've read all my other explanations (2). But I will make it easy for anyone to understand. The first thing you can do is 5+5+5+5+1+1+1+1=24. Then you realize you can do 5+5+5+5+5-1=24. Then you can realize you can do 5 squared-1=24. So with all the possible ways you can achieve 24 using the restrictions, it's possible all right.
