Let the initial wage is 100.After an increase of 10% , the salary becomes 110. After a decrease of 10% from 110,we get 99,which indicates that there is a loss of 1%.

After the 10% increased, it became x + 0.1 x = 1.1 x x+0.1x=1.1x .

After the 10% decreased, it became 1.1 x 0.1 ( 1.1 x ) = 0.99 x 1.1x-0.1(1.1x)=0.99x

Total decreased therefore is x 0.99 x = 0.1 x-0.99x=0.1 or 1 % 1\% .

Hello & peace be upon you,

let x = wages,

10% increment = (0.1x + x ) = 1.1x,

then, 10% decrement = 1.1x - [(0.1)(1.1x)] = 0.99x,

total decrement = (x - 0.99x) = 0.01x

total decrement(%) = 0.01x/x . 100% = 1%
