Mars Arithmetic

Logic Level 2

2 3 2 + 3 = 2 6 + 3 = 8 3 = 24 \begin{aligned} & 2 \, 3 \,2 \,* \,+ \,3 \,* \\ = & 2 \, 6 \, + \, 3 \, * \\ = & 8 \, 3 \, * \\ = & 24 \\ \end{aligned}

The Martians have a different way to express addition and multiplication. Instead of writing the operator between the numbers, they write it beside them. For example, the above is how they would evaluate 2 3 2 * + 3 * .

Which of the following is equivalent to: 3 2 5 * 7 3 * 9 * 5 2 * + + + .

Q. 3 2 5 * 7 3 * 9 * 5 2 * + + +

= 3 (2* 5) 7 3 * 9 * 5 2 * + + +

= 3 (2* 5) (7* 3) 9 * 5 2 * + + +

= 3 (2* 5) (7* 3 * 9) 5 2 * + + +

= 3 (2* 5) (7* 3* 9) (5* 2) + + +

= 3 (2* 5) (7* 3* 9 + 5* 2) + +

= 3 (2* 5 + 7* 3* 9 + 5* 2) +

= 3 + 2* 5 + 7* 3* 9 + 5* 2

= 212.

This was tough...
