DE||BC -> AE/AB = AD/AC . Hence the solution 2.

Being parallel lines ratios of AE:AB should beequal to ratio of AD :Ac,therefore AD is 2 Ans K.K.GARg,India

since DE and BC are parallel then ADE=ACB and AED=ABC so remaining BAC=DAE so DAE and ABC are similar that means EA/AB=AD/AC or 4/6=x/3 or (4*3)/6=AD so AD=2
