On the occasion of Christmas, a church installed three bells, first bell toll at the interval of 5 seconds, the second at the interval of 12 seconds and the third at the interval of 18 seconds. On Christmas, the three bells toll together at 12:00 am. Find the number of times, they will toll together on Christmas?

First we find the L.C.M. of 5sec, 12sec & 18sec which is 180 secs. If their L.C.M. is 180 seconds, they will toll together after each 180 seconds. Now, number of seconds in a day i.e. 60 60 24= 86400. Therefore, they will toll together 86400/180 times i.e. 480.
