Consider x as Satvik's present year and y as his son's present year. 2 years ago, Satvik was 3 times older than his son : (x-2) = 3(y-2). 2 years hence, twice his age will be five times that of his son : 2(x+2) = 5(y+2). Now, you just have to solve the system of equations and the solution will be x=38.

Present year --> current age. Sorry about my English :P

present age of satvik=x and son=y two yrs ago:- x-2=3(y-2) two yrs hence:-2(x+2)=5(y+2) =>x-3y=-4 =>2x-5y=6 solving simultaneous equations we get x= 38 and y=14
