first, lets figure out how much milk and water is in the original 20 liter. We know that the ratio is 5:3. So, there are 25/2 liters of milk and 15/2 liters of water in the original 20 liters of 5:3 mixture. ( (25/2)/(15/2))=25/15=5/3 or 5:3.
Then, 4 liters of the mixture is removed. Another words, 5/2 amount of milk and 3/2 amount of water were removed. ( as (5/2)/(3/2))=5/3 ( same ratio)
This leaves us with 20/2 amount of milk left and 12/2 amount if water left in the mixture or 10 liter of milk and 4 liter of water.
Lastly, we added 4 liters of milk to the mixture. The new ratio of milk is now 14 to 6 or 7:3
