MotionLess Charge

A particle of mass 18 mg carrying a charge of 1 C is in equilibrium in Mid Air Due To a positively charged ring carrying a charge of magnitude 1C at a distance R\2^0.5 from the first one where R is the radius Of the Ring.

Find the Minimum acceleration (with sign...taking upward positive) that can be given to the ring...so that the particle still stays in equilibrium.

Neglect frictional Force Due To Air and Polarized Force Due to medium (air).

(g=10m/s^2)

The answer is 0.

Well...As The force acting on ringis given by kQx(x^2+R^2)^1.5...........This Is Maximum At x=R\2^2.....so according to this question....mg=this maximum force....if the ring is accelerated up or down, the electric force will decrease...as its maximum at the R\2^2 distance...so its not possible to even move the ring...so maximum a=0.
