Moving in an electric field domain

A positively charged particle moves to the right on a straight line in an electric field domain, as shown in diagram [A] . Diagram [B] shows the electric potential of the electric field domain in [A] as a function of the position. Which of the following statements is correct?

a) The direction of the electric field at position d is the same as the direction of the movement of the charged particle.
b) The electric field strength at position d is smaller than that at position 3d .
c) The magnitude of the electric potential difference between positions d and 3d is 1 V . 1 \text{ V}.

a) and c) a) only b) only c) only

As the charge moves up the potential gradient from 0 to 2d it will face an opposition. (The natural motion is down the potential gradient.). Hence a) is false. The slope between o and d is less that between 2d and 3d and beyond. Since the magnitude of the field is the slope (potential gradient) b) is true. c) is obviously false from the graph shown in b. The potential is less than 1V
