2.3 × 3.4 = ( 2 + 0.3 ) ( 3 + 0.4 ) = 6 + 0.9 + 0.8 + 0.12 = 7.82 2.3 \times 3.4\\ = (2+0.3)(3+0.4)\\ = 6 + 0.9 + 0.8 + 0.12\\ =\boxed{7.82}

2.3 x 3.4 = 23 x 34 =782 there are 1 number behind the decimal point in each of the numbers. 3 and 4. that's 2 number . i think. then you add the decimal point after the seconds number. =7.82 tada!!!!!!!

As I teach my youngest students (if I am teaching them to do this without a calculator):

23x34 = 782 There are 2 digits after the decimal place (as tenths), so we can divide by 10 and 10 again.

782 becomes 7.82 I do explain why. I don't like teaching them "method".

Use a calculator. Hassle free.

@Rico Lee It's nice that you are posting solution to problems which is very much appreciated :) . But on most of your solutions I've seen that you have posted "Use a calculator" . A solution is meant to explain to others how to solve the problem. Unfortunately such responses do not help the reader much as to how to solve the problem. So please refrain from posting these types of solutions.

Don't let this comment stop you form posting more solutions though! Each contribution is appreciated.

@Abdur Rehman Zahid HAHAHA indeed you are correct sir, and I really appreciate your politeness. I shall take note of such valuable advice/lesson. If I am correct I remember I have only posted 'use a calculator' two or three times in solutions. I only say this because solving easy problems (like this one) require a fast and correct approach, which, I have mastered the fast bit for this question.

Thankyou for reminding me of my fault. Don't worry, I will post more solutions and try to refrain from answering 'use a calculator' again. :)
