( i i ) (ii) Replace all the face centered cations ( M ) (M) by anions ( X ) (X)

( i i i ) (iii) Remove all the corner cations ( M ) (M)

( i v ) (iv) Replace the central anion ( X ) (X) with cation ( M ) (M)

Find N a n i o n s N c a t i o n s \dfrac {N_{anions}}{N_{cations}} in Z . Z.

( i ) (i) No. of anions left = 1

( i i ) (ii) No. of anions added = 3

.No. of cations left = 1

( i i i ) (iii) No. of cations left = 0

( i v ) (iv) No. of cations added = 1

No. of anions left = 3

Final no. of cations in an unit cell = 1
