x + 2 = x 2 x 2 − x − 2 = 0 x 2 + x − 2 x − 2 = 0 x ( x + 1 ) − 2 ( x + 1 ) = 0 ( x + 1 ) ( x − 2 ) = 0 → x = − 1 , x = 2 x+2=x^2\\ x^2-x-2=0\\ x^2+x-2x-2=0\\x(x+1)-2(x+1)=0\\(x+1)(x-2)=0\rightarrow x=-1,x=2 So ther are 2 solutions to this equation.The question should specify that x is positive.
