Nancy shared the following information with Nandini:
I live with a brother of mine who sent a box of chocolates to another brother of mine who is in the Marines. The Marine Officer met your sister, an engineer, while she was in New York. He gave her that box of chocolates. Your sister passed the box to your father's only son, a lecturer, who in turn passed it on to my cousin who is a doctor.
The doctor passed the box to another brother of mine stationed at Austin. He practices Law. The lawyer passed the box to my mother's youngest son, who is a chef at the Hilton's. A sister of mine who is a Chartered Accountant received this box by courier. None of the brothers practice the same profession.

(1) There is no mention of the fact that the brothers mentioned are the only brothers Nancy has. So, D.
(2) If you got this wrong, then you may have considered A. But you cannot be sure that one of her brothers is NOT a journalist. You assumed this because you thought this option has not been mentioned in the conversation. Considering A negates the equally likely possibility that the said brother could be some other unmentioned professional. So, D is correct.
(3) Nandini's brother is a lecturer. So, B is correct.
