It Is a common misconception that in sn1 reaction as planar carbocation is formed as an intermediate hence complete racemisation takes place. But actually 95-97% racemic mixture is formed. The reason being the leaving group would be in the vicinity of carbocation only hence due to repulsion between like charges the approach wont be much favourable from side leaving group leaves. So Inversion product is about 52% while retention product is 48%.
