num of nickels of andrew:x
num of quarters betsy:y
therefore: 2x×5+y×25=45
2x+5y=9
y=1 x=2
therefore: 2×5+2×25=60

Let X be amount Andrew has.

Say they have N nickels & Q quarters. So from given case of Betsy, we have the equation as: 5N+25Q=45 cents. Here it can be seen, N=4 & Q=1

And from Andrew's case we get the equation as: [(5N)÷2]+[(25Q)×2]=X

By the substituting the values of N&Q we have; [(5×4)÷2]+[(25×1)×2] =10+50 = 60 cents
