Hello,

it is given that at the Weight at the equator is 0.5% less than at the North Pole or South Pole,

therefore,

let We = Weight at the equator, Wn = Weight at the North Pole or South Pole,

We = (100-0.5)/ (100 )Wn = 0.995 Wn,

as Wn = 148 pounds,

We = 0.995(148) = 147.26 pounds,

thanks....

Wp = Nigel's weight at the Poles. We = Nigel's weight on the Equator. 148 is 100% of his weight, so divide by 200 to fine 0.5% of his weight, which is 0.74. Then, subtract 0.74 from the Wp and you will end up with the We, which is 147.26 .

.05% less means 99.5 Pounds at Equator will weigh 100 Lbs at Poles. So 148 Lbs will weigh 148.78 Lbs. Ans
